THURSTON HARPER
Carl Thurston Harper Jr. nasce il 2 agosto 1903 ad Anderson, Texas, da Carl Thurston Harper (1877-1931) e Jennie E. Webb (1876-1968). Gli altri figli sono Clothilde Harper Reynolds (1901-2000), Paul Hamilton Harper (1904-1974) e Webb Harper (1906-1937).
Harper è, dopo Ham Hamilton e Ub Iwerks, il terzo animatore a lavorare con Walt Disney a Kansas City, nel 1924-25. Tornerà allo Studio Disney, a Hollywood, nel 1935-37. Successivamente collabora con altri studi che includono Harman-Ising, Gaumont British Animation e Fleischer.
Sposa Jean Alice Lowry a Los Angeles, California, il 24 aprile 1937.
Nel 1942 richiede un incarico nella Marina USA e la sua carriera di animatore ha termine.
Dal 1943 al 1948 scrive e disegna fumetti con animali buffi per Dell/Western, Sangor Studios (pubblicati da American Comics Group e Better/Standard Publications tra gli altri) e infine per DC/National.
Harper apre poi la sua compagnia di pubblicità a Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, nelle Isole Vergini, continuando a gestirla fino al 1968.
Scompare il 25 marzo 1987 nella contea di Highlands, in Florida.

Carl Thurston Harper Jr. was born August 2, 1903 in Anderson, Grimes County, Texas to Carl Thurston Harper (1877-1931) and Jennie E. Webb (1876-1968). Other children were Clothilde Harper Reynolds (1901-2000), Paul Hamilton Harper (1904-1974), and Webb Harper (1906-1937).
Carl was the third animator, after Ham Hamilton and Ub Iwerks, to work for Walt Disney in Kansas City during 1924-25 and was back at the Disney Studio in Hollywood during 1935-37. He then worked for other studios including Harman-Ising, Gaumont British Animation, and Fleischer.
He married Jean Alice Lowry in Los Angeles, California, on April 24, 1937.
In 1942 he asked for a commission in the US Navy and that was the end of his animation career.
From 1943-48 he wrote and drew funny animal comics for Dell/Western, the Sangor Studios (which appeared in comic books published by American Comics Group and Better/Standard Publications among others), and finally for DC/National.
Harper then opened his own advertising company in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, which continued its operations until 1968.
He passed away on March 25, 1987 in Highlands County, Florida.
