STERLING STURTEVANT

Sterling Annette Roberts Sturtevant nasce nel 1922 a Redlands, presso San Bernardino, in California, da Howard M. Roberts e Mary Ada Lyda Doak. La madre si risposa nel gennaio 1926 con E. Norton Sturtevant e un anno dopo nasce un'altra figlia, Donna.

Sterling è al Reparto Sceneggiature dello Studio Disney nel 1946, ed è accreditata per il cortometraggio di Pluto Bone Bandit.

Il 22 febbraio 1948 sposa a Los Angeles Eugene Glasband.

Dal 1952 al 1954 è designer presso lo Studio UPA, dove collabora a diversi cortometraggi di Mr. Magoo diretti da Pete Burness. Si impone come una delle migliori donne-designer nel settore dell'animazione.

Successivamente segue il regista Bill Melendez alla Playhouse Pictures, dove crea il design dei personaggi per numerosi spot animati televisivi, incluso quello con i Peanuts di Charles Schulz.

Sterling Sturtevant scompare prematuramente nel 1962 in seguito a un tumore al pancreas. Quello stesso anno è nata sua figlia Amy Sterling Casil, che diverrà una scrittrice di fantascienza. Sterling Sturtevant è sepolta presso lo Hillside Memorial Park di Redlands, nella contea di San Bernardino.

Sterling Annette Roberts Sturtevant was born in 1922 in Redlands, near San Bernardino, California, to Howard M. Roberts and Mary Ada Lyda Doak. Her mother was married again in January 1926 to E. Norton Sturtevant
and a year later another daughter, Donna, was born.

Sterling worked in the Disney Studio Story Department in 1946. She is credited with the Pluto short, Bone Bandit.

On February 22, 1948, she married Eugene Glasband in Los Angeles.

From 1951-54 she worked as a character designer at UPA, where she contributed to several Mr. Magoo shorts directed by Pete Burness. She was one of the best woman designers in animation.

She then followed director Bill Melendez to work for Playhouse Pictures, creating characters for several TV commercials, including the one featuring Charles Schulz's Peanuts.

Sterling Sturtevant prematurely passed away in 1962 from pancreatic cancer. Previously that year her daughter Amy Sterling Casil was born, who would later become a Science-Fiction writer. Sterling Sturtevant is
buried at the Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands, San Bernardino county.
