IRVING DRESSLER
Irving S. Dressler nasce a New York il 6 ottobre 1912. Si traferisce poi con la famiglia a Patterson, nel New Jersey.
Entra nello studio di animazione dei fratelli Fleischer a Miami, Florida, nel 1939, come animatore e sceneggiatore per i cortometraggi di Popeye the Sailor (Braccio di Ferro). Vive a Miami con la moglie Sylvia Sandra (1916-2010) e il figlio Robert (nato nel 1940). Si trasferisce poi ai Famous Animation Studios, continuando a lavorare come animatore e sceneggiatore ai cortometraggi di Popeye, Little Lulu e Casper dal 1942 fino al 1948 (eccetto il periodo 1944-1945 quando è nell'Esercito in India).
Tra il 1943 e il 1953 realizza storie a fumetti di animali buffi per i Sangor Studios (pubblicate da ACG, Better/Standard e Rural Home) e per le editrici ACE e DC Comics. Realizza inoltre delle storie di guerra per l'editrice St.John.
Lavora come sceneggiatore e animatore per lo studio Paramount dal 1959 al 1963 e dal 1965 al 1966, con periodi trascorsi presso Hal Seeger e Grantray-Lawrence nel 1964-65.
Risiede all'848 di Val Park Avenue a Valley Stream, New York, poi al 5163 di Cribari Knls. a San José, California, dove scompare il 24 luglio 2003. Riposa nel Los Gatos Memorial Park di San José.
Irving S. Dressler was born October 6, 1912 in New York. He then moved with his family to Patterson, New Jersey.
Dressler joined the Fleischer animation studio in Miami, Florida, in 1939 as an animator and story-man on Popeye the Sailor shorts. He lived in Miami with wife Sylvia Sandra (1916-2010) and son Robert (born 1940). He then moved to Famous Animation Studios, continuing to work as an animator and story-man on Popeye, Little Lulu, and Casper shorts from 1942 until 1948 (except for 1944-1945 when he
was in the Army in India).
From 1943-53 he created funny animal comics for the Sangor Studios (published by ACG, Better/Standard and Rural Home), and for ACE and DC
Comics. He also drew war stories for St.John Publishing.
Dressler worked as a writer and animator at the Paramount animation studio from 1959-63 and 1965-66, with stints at the Hal Seeger and Grantray-Lawrence studios in 1964-65.
He lived at 848 Val Park Avenue in Valley Stream, New York, then moved to 5163 Cribari Knls. in San Jose, California, where he passed
away on July 24, 2003. He is buried at Los Gatos Memorial Park, San Jose.
