GLENN SCHMITZ

Schmitz scompare l'8 agosto 2000 a San Bernardino, in California.

Glenn Curtis Schmitz  was born October 27, 1929 in Los Angeles, in California. He was the second child of Earl D. Schmitz Sr. and Vera M. Beyl, after Earle D. Schmitz Jr., seven years his elder. By 1940 the family was residing in Santa Monica. Glenn joined the Disney Studio in 1950 as an apprentice animator and worked on the animation feature Alice in Wonderland. He was then drafted and went back to working for Disney in 1952 as a breakdown animator, staying until 1957 and contributing to such features as Lady and the Tramp and Sleeping Beauty. From 1960-64 he worked on the television series The Magic Land of Allakazam, starring magician Mark Wilson. Schmitz also illustrated the Allakazam cereal boxes for Kellogg's.

He was again at Disney from May 1965 until 1967, as a breakdown animator on The Jungle Book and different shorts, besides penciling the Scamp daily and Sunday strips from 1968-69.

From 1968-71, on his own time, Schmitz drew several Disney comic stories which were only published overseas, featuring such characters as Uncle Scrooge, Mad Madam Mim, Magica De Spell, Paddy, Witch Child, Zipp, Chip 'n' Dale, The Big Bad Wolf and The Li'l Bad Wolf. He went back to animation in 1970, drawing layouts for Filmation Associates, then for De Patie-Freleng (where he also animated), and Hanna-Barbera. He also worked as an animator, story director, layout man, storyboarder and assistant animator for Sanrio (Metamorphoses), Ruby-Spears (Alvin and the Chipmunks), DIC (Heathcliff), Baer (Rover Dangerfield, The Prince and the Pauper for Disney), and Warner/Amblin (Tiny Toon Adventures). Schmitz passed awy August 8, 2000 in San Bernardino, California.
